The Dark Feminine Power: Scorpio

My first interaction was scorpions was when I lived in Nîmes in the south of France. It was an extremely hot and dry climate. In the summer, we had little rain, yet were smothered in continuous desert heat. At night, we had no choice but to keep the windows without any screens open.

And everything came in.

Mosquitos, moths, crane flies, flying ants, midges, wasps lining the walls—but nothing compared to the scorpions.

We had to keep our bed post in cups of water. That is because when the scorpions would come out at the darkest hour, they would climb up the cup and into the water and drown, as opposed to climbing up into the bed and piercing their stinger right into you.

I remember one time reaching for the light switch and brushed against my finger was the tiniest scorpion. 

The tinier the scorpion, the more deadly their venom is.

You learned to respect the scorpions, and to safely remove by trapping them with a cup and a piece of paper, for example.

Oh cute, thinking you could really fight a scorpio.

Quickly you learn, it is no use to try to take out a scorpio because you are scared of their sacred power. They have the toughest shells, an unseen auric strength and they are resilient beyond all measure. 

Fear doesn’t defeat something that powerful.

Scorpions are resilient. Armored. Precise. They don’t waste energy, and they don’t strike without reason.

And that is the essence of Scorpio.

Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Pluto, Pluto being the a dwarf planet. While Scorpio, might be distant and tiny, it is the tiniest ones that carry the most venom and they protect themselves at all cost. 

Scorpio rules the dark of the psyche.

Scorpio also rules sex, the womb, sexuality, death, crime, taboos, kidnapping, phobias, obsession, trauma, occult, transformation, rebirth, resilience beyond all odds, it is dark feminine power to the extreme.

It is the phoenix rising from the ashes after you thought the last ember burnt out.

It is also ruled by Mars, Scorpio is the female warrior, while traditional Aries Mars is the traditionally masculine warrior of the zodiac.

Aries is brave, brute, determination on sheer force. It’s ready to charge in the bright of day like a go getting cardinal sign would. It’s messy. It’s ready to run across the battlefield and sacrifice themselves at all costs.

Scorpio, however is a fixed energy. It knows exactly when and where and how to seek justice, revenge.

It is the sniper in the dark of night. 

Scorpio energy is not loud.

It does not rush into battle.

It waits.

This is not chaos. This is control.

Scorpio is a fixed sign. It does not forget. It does not dissipate. It transforms.

What it experiences, it integrates. What it feels, it alchemizes.

And when it acts—it is intentional.

Not reactive. Not reckless.

Precise.

There is a difference between a warrior who charges forward and one who understands timing. Scorpio is the latter. It observes, endures, and when the moment comes, it moves with certainty.

It doesn’t forget everything it’s been through. It’s gone through the dark night of the soul, taken the power from all of those lessons and has re owned it. 

She will carry that energy, let it grow in her womb and right when it’s time to express that energy you won’t even know it was in a gestation period. 

And what looks like stillness… is power gathering beneath the surface.

Scorpio teaches that resilience is not about being untouched by darkness—but about moving through it and emerging with deeper strength & awareness.

The stinger is not random.

It is earned.
